It is important that property owners inspect, maintain, repair and/or replace private lateral sewer pipes to help reduce sewer overflow and protect their lateral from further damage.

Tree Roots


Tree roots in sewer pipes cause damaged and are the reason why many sewers back up. Roots can enter sewer pipes through cracks or loose joints. More than half of the tree roots in the City’s sewer system enter through private sewer laterals.
